As of 27th March, the Nairobi Metropolitan region is under strict movement cessation. President Kenyatta announced today in his 15th Presidential address on Covid 19 today on 26th March.
Air, road, rail, and water transport have been restricted and non is allowed to operate in and out of Nairobi Region and the neighboring counties including, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, and Nakuru.
This update comes in a week before the Easter holidays start. A lot of reactions have been witnessed as many Local Kenyan tourists had booked and planned to travel outside the city for vacations.
Local Tour Operators, Guides, Airlines, Hotels, lodges, and camps all face a big blow after this presidential address as many were booked and this has brought all these players back to the drawing board.
The cessation is said to stay until further notice and hence affects many other sectors including food, tourism, transport, and others.
If you were planning your safari, you can still fly in but first, get guidance and proper information from your ground handler. Since safaris are mostly done outside of the Nairobi region, these procedures should be done prior to your visit in order to be in line with the government guidelines.
